Take a Hike for Health!

November 17th is National Hiking Day! Hiking is great exercise and being outdoors allows you to get away from electronics and appreciate nature’s beauty and wonder. Plus, the constant movement allows an outlet that helps our minds focus on solving the problems. Hiking also makes you happy! The hormones your body gets during physical activity help fight off anxiety, prevent loneliness and depression, and improve your mood. Hiking is for all ages making it a great opportunity to spend time with family actively!

We have another wonderful announcement to share with all of you. We get to celebrate another amazing teacher here at Ryan Elementary, Mrs. Lutz.

Mrs. Lutz was selected to receive the Amazing Teacher Award through the Sturgis Journal. Not only did Mrs. Lutz. receive the local award she was then submitted as the local representative and moved on to Nationals and won.

Mrs. Lutz grew up with ADHD, making school sometimes hard, which drove her to want to be a teacher and help others. Mrs. Lutz loves the moment when concepts finally click with students and she sees her students' faces light up.

We are so lucky to have her in our building here at Ryan Elementary. Let’s all congratulate Mrs. Lutz on this amazing award!!

Let's Celebrate!!! Today, we’re so excited to celebrate someone very special here at Ryan Elementary School. Mrs. Karan Norton! We are proud to share that Mrs. Norton has been selected as the very first Bronson recipient of the Inclusion and Belonging Recognition Award for Branch County, given out by Parent Advisory Committee. She was nominated and chosen as the October recipient for consistently going above and beyond her responsibilities to support her coworkers and students. Mrs. Norton is a tireless advocate for inclusion, teamwork, and compassion — and her impact reaches far beyond her classroom. Mrs. Norton doesn’t just teach lessons; she builds connections, welcomes new ideas, and finds ways for every student to shine. When she meets a challenge, she looks for ways to grow and learn so she can help her students succeed. She shows us all what it means to be kind, patient, and understanding. Because of Mrs. Norton, classrooms at Ryan Elementary are more inclusive and welcoming — places where everyone has a voice, and everyone matters. Please join me celebrating Mrs. Karan Norton, for helping make Ryan Elementary School a place where we all belong! 👏 #GDTBABV

A Healtier Halloween:

Halloween is fun—even without extra candy! Since kids get plenty while trick-or-treating, it’s important to choose healthier snacks at home and school. Please send your student with nutritious foods and limit sugary treats. For Halloween spirit, try orange fruits or veggies like orange slices or baby carrots with low-fat yogurt dip. Let’s celebrate Halloween in a healthy way to help students learn their best!

Exciting News for Our March of the Vikings Fundraiser!

We are off to a great start. Our goal is for every child to raise $25 to support our school community. However, families are welcome to adjust this goal to whatever works best for them!

Additionally, in the 99 Pledges system, the goal will automatically update as donations come in—making it easy to track our progress together.

Let’s rally as Vikings and make this fundraiser a huge success!

Thank you for your support!
